Description
The Aerospace Grade Firesleeve is fabricated from a bulk braided fiberglass yarn substrate with thick liquid silicone rubber coating.Coating process of silicone rubber on fiberglass sleeve makes this firesleeve flexible, expandable for connectors covering.
Properties:
► Firesleeve is made from braid high bulk glass fiber sleeve and coated flexibility Silicone Rubber can withstand repeated exposures to molten steel, molten aluminum and molten glass up to 3000°F (1650°C).
► The aerospace grade coating of our proprietary iron oxide red silicone rubber compound sheds molten metal splash immediately, so very little heat transfer occurs.
► When exposed to flames, the silicone rubber transforms into a crust, creating a protective SiO2 refractory layer.
► Excellent modulus of elasticity makes it an ideal choice for bundling hoses, tubes and cables in a variety of hostile environments.
Applications:
The typical applications include protecting hoses and cables in steel mills, aluminum smelting plants, offshore drilling rigs, foundries and glass manufacturing facilities.
The silicone coated fiberglass fire sleeve features an excellent modulus of elasticity, allowing it to easily stretch an expand over fittings and connectors. The outer cover offers excellent resistance to most industrial chemicals and hydraulic oils. Additional uses include the bundling of multiple hoses and cables together, while providing good abrasion resistance.
In applications where operators and maintenance personnel are working in the vicinity of steam lines or hot oil lines, there is always the danger of employees incurring serious burns from the branding effect of hot braided hoses. The silicone rubber coated sleeve provides effective burn protection from steam lines while insulating against costly energy losses. Applications include rubber vulcanization operations, platen presses, infection molding plants—anywhere hot steam or oil lines are used.
